HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Connecticut health officials authorize vaccine clinics across the state to start offering the Johnson and Johnson vaccine again.
The announcement on Saturday follows the FDA and CDC decision to restart use of the vaccine after 15 rare blood clot cases were detected out of the over 7-million shots administered.
The CDC has determined that the known and potential benefits of the J&J vaccine outweigh the known and potential risks, says the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
Acting DPH Commissioner Doctor Deidre Gifford explains: "...This pause and review will hopefully give people confidence that we take the safety of these vaccines very seriously and are committed to ensuring that that they meet the highest safety and effectiveness standards."
New fact sheets will be given to recipients before administration.
