Naugatuck, Conn.( WTIC Radio)-A New Canaan Police officer who operates a canine training facility in Naugatuck, and is under investigation for animal abuse, now faces an additional charge, Naugatuck Police said.
David Rivera has already been charged with illegal possession of explosives, illegal storage of explosives, illegal possession of an assault rifle, illegal storage of a firearm and three counts of improper transfer of a firearm.
He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
Rivera also faces charges of illegal euthanization of a canine.
Police said Rivera turned himself in July 30th for Malicious Wounding/Killing of an Animal.
He's due in Waterbury Superior Court August 25th.
