This time yesterday there was a brick apartment building with two big bay windows facing
Broad Street in Meriden. Now, it's just a pile of bricks brought down by emergency equipment rushed to finish off the job after the building began collapsing on its own.
John Colon watched the drama unfold and the building become undone from his porch down the block.
He says it's never been the sort of building you want to live next door to, having been vacant for more than
a decade after a fire. Meriden Fire Chief Ken Morgan says they've been keeping an eye
on the building for a while. Now, there's nothing there to keep an eye on.
