SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Southington Police arrest a man in connection with an erratic driving incident during the town's High School graduation Thursday evening.
Police say Stephen Buckler, 43, of Bristol, drove a white Chevy Trailblazer over a grassy median in the school's parking lot, crossed the sidewalk, and entered Flanders Street to pass a row of stopped vehicles.
Buckler continued traveling towards Officers as commands were provided directing the operator of the white Chevy Trailblazer to stop.
It was at that time Buckler increased speed as it headed towards Officers and abruptly turned right on Annelise Avenue where it drove over a curb, striking a fence and causing other private property damage before fleeing the area northbound.
Officers in the roadway were forced to jump out of the way of the moving vehicle as its operator acted in a reckless manner disobeying all commands.
It was eventually learned the vehicle was occupied by two other adults, a teenager, as well as a minor six (6) year old child.
Buckler is charged with risk of injury to a child, first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer, evading responsibility, and failure to drive in a proper lane.
Bond is $50,000.
