ROCKY HILL, CONN (WTIC Radio)-Connecticut State Police and Department of Transportation officials announced more troopers will be patrolling state highways, as the agencies take steps to reduce driving and pedestrian fatalities.
The state has already experienced 50 deaths this year, most recently four young adults died in a wrong-way crash in West Haven.
Officials urged drivers to put the phone down and not to drive drunk or high, stressing Ride Share and Uber are safer alternatives.
Guilford State Senator Christine Cohen co-chairs the legislature's Transportation Committee and said lawmakers are considering a
measure this session to lower the blood alcohol level from .08 to .05.
