BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Numerous agencies are investigating an apparent explosion at an apartment building in Bridgeport.
City police and fire responded to reports of smoke coming out of an apartment building on North Avenue around 12:27 a.m. Thursday.
First responders discovered what appeared to be damage from an explosion that went off in the hallway outside one of the apartments located on the third floor.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
Emergency personnel have evacuated the tenants of the building and established a temporary shelter at and area school until the scene is declared safe.
The Connecticut State Police Bomb Squad along with FBI Bomb Technicians have responded and are currently in the process of clearing the building and managing the scene.
North Avenue is closed between Oak Street and James until further notice.
