
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Fairfield Police rescued dozens of animals Saturday from a home animal hoarding situation.
Emergency responders initially responded to the call for a medial emergency at a home on Churchill Street around 8:35 a.m. Saturday.

Officers described the home to be in a state of squalor with animal waste throughout. Over 80 animals were found, including chickens, cats, geese, turkeys, and ducks.
Fairfield Animal Control was immediately contacted and responded to the scene. Westport, Bridgeport and Trumbull Animal Control also assisted.
All animals were removed from the residence and transported to local shelters for evaluation.
The resident was transported to an area hospital for treatment for their medical conditions.
Fairfield Police are investigating this as a case of animal cruelty.
