New London, Conn./WTIC Radio - The family of a visiting nurse found murdered in Willimantic last fall is now filing a wrongful death lawsuit.

Joyce Grayson's family names her place of employment, the state and others.

Grayson was the 63-year-old-nurse who was found dead in the basement of a halfway house last October.

A resident, Michael Reese, is now charged in her death.

The suit states Elara Caring didn't do all it could to protect Grayson and other nurses who came into contact with patients who had violent tendencies.

Kaitlyn Grayson, Joyce Grayson's daughter, said "my mother was a giver and had more to give to our family and to the community. Although we grieve her loss, the Grayson family will not rest until we can ensure that this never happens again."

OSHA has already fined the home care company for not providing safeguards to protect nurses.
