WHETHERSFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)—Police in Wethersfield are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision after findings from the Chief Medical Examiner revealed more than just an apparent collapse.

On Thursday, December 17, authorities responded to a report of a person unconscious in the snow at 200 Longvue Drive at about 2:48 a.m. during a heavy snowfall.

At the time, it appeared the man had collapsed while shoveling a neighbor's driveway, according to officials.

The man was transported to Hartford Hospital after medical personnel provided emergency medical attention. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined that the victim, who police identified as Paul Bonfiglio, 57, of Longvue Drive in Wethersfield, sustained injuries consistent with being struck by a car, Lieutenant Donald Crabtree said.

According to Crabtree, police have no information or details relating to a suspect vehicle as of late Monday afternoon.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Detective Kevin Lawless with Wethersfield Police at 860-721-2870 or at kevin.lawless@wethersfieldct.gov.

The family of Bonfiglio is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the fatal accident.
