Enfield, Conn. (WTIC Radio)-A man from Feeding Hills Massachusetts has been charged in a fatal accident just after midnight on Interstate 91 in Enfield, according to Connecticut State Police.
State Police said Fernando Lebron, 60, from Chicopee Massachusetts, was traveling Northbound on Interstate 91, north of the Exit 48 ramp. His vehicle was then struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by 24-year old Dominic Michael Grassetti of Feeding Hills.
Lebron suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident.
Grassetti, according to state police, admitted to drinking one alcoholic beverage before the crash. They said his eyes were glassy and he had an odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his body. Further, they said Grassetti struggled to keep his balance, and slurred his words when speaking. Grassetti said Lebron applied his brakes and he collided with his vehicle.
Grassetti failed a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for DUI.
He's scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court today.
State Police said further charges are pending.
