Boston, MA/WTIC Radio - Assistance from FEMA is coming to those who were impacted by a wildfire in Connecticut nearly two years ago.

It says $2 million in post-disaster funding for Fire Management Assistance Grants will be going out to cover costs incurred from the Hawthorne Fire.

That's the wild fire that started on Lamentation Mountain in Berlin in October 2024.

The money is expected to cover costs from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

They include the use of aircraft, labor and overtime during the fire fight.

In addition, assistance will also help pay for extra firefighters and aerial supression that included helicopters from the Connecticut National Guard and the Maine Forest Service.

The fire wound up scorching about 130 acres.
