Fairfield, Conn./WTIC Radio - Firefighters in Fairfield are crediting working smoke detectors with preventing tragedy in a Monday night house fire.
The call went out around 11:30 p.m. to a home on Figlar Avenue.
Officials say the 911 caller told them the smoke detector went off, allowing them to find the fire and evacuate.
Fire was shooting from multiple windows by the time crews arrived on scene.
They were able to prevent the blaze from extending to the second floor bedrooms.
No civilian injuries were reported but one firefighter sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene.
The investigation is underway to determine a cause.
