East Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - Three people had to be hospitalized after fire broke out early Sunday morning at a home in East Hartford.
The call came after 1:00 a.m. to the home on Whiting Road.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they encountered heavy fire on the second floor.
One person sustained burns and was rushed to the hospital.
Two other occupants were transported for treatment, as well.
Fire officials say they had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes but several dogs died from smoke inhalation and others had to be rescued.
Manchester and Hartford fire departments provided mutual aid.
There's no word yet on a cause of the fire.
