HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A former democratic State Representative and West Haven city official is sentenced to over two years in connection with the theft of COVID-19 relief money.
The sentencing at Federal Court in Hartford on Wednesday for Michael DiMassa is two years and three months.
He faced four years in prison, after he plead guilty to three counts of wire fraud conspiracy in November.
DiMassa stole over $1.2-million in COVID-19 relief funds from the City of West Haven through a scheme involving a shell company he managed.
His wife, Lauren DiMassa, was sentenced to six months in prison in March in connection with the stolen money.
John Bernardo, who was also involved in the case, was sentenced to 13 months in prison in March.
