Jacksonville, FL/WTIC Radio - A former UConn men's basketball player is under arrest in Florida for the murder of his mother.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is charging Eric Cobb, 28.
They say officers found Erika Winford, 51, wrapped in a blanket and towels in a backyard of a home.
Officials say she'd been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cobb was arrested attempting to leave the home and is being held in the Duval County Jail.
He played two seasons at UConn, 2017-18 and 2018-19, averaging 1.7 and 3.7 points per game respectively.
