Vernon, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - State police continue to investigate a fatal crash from Thursday that left an 11-year-old girl dead.

A little after 8:00 p.m., troopers say two vehicles collided while they both traveled eastbound on Interstate 84 in the area of exit 67 in Vernon.

Investigators say one vehicle came to rest in the shoulder and the second in the median.

A passenger in one of the vehicles, 11-year-old Jaidyn Bolduc, was pronounced dead at Rockville General Hospital.

Jaidyn was a student at Vernon Center Middle School.

A statement from the Vernon school superintendent says Jaidyn "was a kind and considerate student and was involved in cheerleading".

Two other people riding in the same vehicle as Jaidyn sustained minor injuries.

There's no word yet on a cause of the crash.

The Troop C barracks of the state police is investigating and urges witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
