Bridgeport, Conn./WTIC Radio - John Gomes will stay in the race for mayor of Bridgeport.
Gomes, who lost a Democratic primary re-do to incumbent Joe Ganim last Tuesday, says he'll be on the ballot next month as an independent in the general election.
Gomes said "we know that there has been a call from the mayor, the current administration and city council leadership to end this mayoral bid."
But he said voters should have the final say.
Gomes filed suit that led to a new primary election amid allegations of absentee ballot mismanagement in the September 12th primary.
A judge to threw out those results and ordered the re-do of both the primary and the general election.
Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas said Tuesday that 14 absentee ballots that were recently found from the primary last week did not affect the final vote tally.
