NEW HAVEN, CONN (WTIC Radio) Governor Lamont joined business leaders in urging the legislature to pass a measure granting companies 26-hundred dollars in tax credits for paying off employees' student loan
debt of to $52 hundred a year.
The Governor said too much debt is throwing sand in the gears of life.
Right now these tax credits are only available to employees who have student loans through the Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority. The Governor's measure expands the program for all student loans.
Lamont predicts the legislature will pass his measure.
It already gained approval in the Higher Education and Finance Revenue and Bonding Committees.
