Guilford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The Guilford Department is in mourning after a town firefighter was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 on Friday.
State police say Michael Terrio, 32, of Killingworth was traveling southbound in I-95 near exit 59 in Guilford just before 9:00 p.m.
Investigators say Terrio's vehicle struck another from behind in the right lane.
He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he later died.
The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
In a post on the department's Facebook page, Guilford Fire Chief Michael Shove said “Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael’s family during this unimaginable time. We ask the community to keep his loved ones in their hearts as we grieve the loss of a brother firefighter.”
The department has peer support services available for members and staff, the statement said.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been released.
