Hamden man, shot killed in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - New Haven Police are investigating a deadly early Saturday morning shooting.

Around 4:19 a.m., a caller reported to police they heard gunshots in the area of Fairmont Avenue, between East Ferry and Lancraft Streets.

As police arrived and found a crime scene, officers received further word that the victim of the shooting had been taken to Yale New Haven Hospital in a private car.

Officers went to the hospital where they were able to stop the car that had transported the victim, who was pronounced dead by medical staff due to his wounds.

He's being identified as a 25-year-old man from Hamden.

No further information is being released at this time.
