HAMDEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio)—Hamden Police are searching for the suspect of an armed robbery of a convenience store which happened before sunrise Monday.
At about 3:15 a.m. Monday, Hamden officers responded to Alltown Fresh on Dixwell Avenue to investigate the armed robbery.
According to police, an individual described as a white male entered the store and approached the clerk.
The suspect pointed the firearm at the clerk and pulled the trigger, but the gun did not fire, police said.
The clerk then handed the cash register drawer to the suspect, police said.
Afterward, the suspect fled in what police describe as a newer model, red, 4-door Chevrolet Sedan, heading northbound on Dixwell Avenue.
Police department officials describe the suspect as middle-aged, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 200 lbs. The suspect was seen wearing a dark blue and white stripped Adidas jacket with gray sweatpants, police said.
