HAMDEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Hamden Police expect charges will be filed against a Hamden High School freshman who stabbed another freshman multiple times.
A fight broke out next a city bus stop on Dixwell Avenue, near Hamden High School, around 2:15 p.m. on Monday.
A 14-year-old ninth grade student who had been stabbed multiple times in the back went to a School Resource Officer for help. The student was taken to the school nurse while officers and paramedics responded to the scene. The student was later taken to Yale New Haven Hospital. Condition is unknown.
The preliminary investigation revealed two students were involved in a fight just off school grounds. During the fight, one of the students stabbed the other student multiple times in the back. A small folding knife was recovered by police and seized as evidence.
The student suspected in the stabbing, a 13-year-old ninth grader, is in police custody. Charges are expected.
