Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A Hartford man has been sentenced for the death of his daughter in 2018.
Edwin Babilonia must serve five years of a 20-year sentence, followed by probation.
It was May 24, 2018 that prosecutors say Babilonia and 7-week-old baby Emily's mother Ashley Perez-Rivera took turns trying to console the child who'd been crying incessantly.
That's when Edwin Babilonia recklessly shook Emily, causing a massive brain bleed.
Later that morning, Babilonia and Perez-Rivera finally took the infant to the hospital where she was evaluated by doctors and a child abuse team.
She died four days later.
Perez-Rivera pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide and other charges for failing to immediately seek medical care for Emily.
