HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Hartford Police have arrested a former officer in connection with the wrongful access of computer information.
Officials say former officer Zachary Freeto was placed on paid administrative leave in December of 2020 while an investigation probed Freeto's actions in an off-duty incident in Enfield, in which police say Freeto wrongfully accessed computer information on multiple occasions.
Chief of Police Jason Thody ordered a fitness for duty evaluation while he questioned whether Freeto could properly and safely perform his duties.
Freeto remained on leave and was ultimately deemed unfit for duty. He was separated from the department on March 19.
Freeto was arrested on Monday. He faces a charge of computer crime in the first degree.
Separate administrative and criminal investigations were launched by the Hartford Police Department relating to the computer access.
