HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The City of Hartford will be keeping two overnight warming centers open every hour for the next few days due to extremely low temperatures in the forecast.

The two warming centers, the Adult Education Center at 110 Washington Street (for adults) and the former Milner School at 104 Vine Street (for families with kids under 18), will be open 24-hours a day through noon at Wednesday.

"These warming centers can be lifesaving for residents experiencing homelessness, so please visit if you need warmth, especially these next couple of days," Mayor Luke Bronin said.

COVID-19 screenings will be performed at both sites, according to city officials.

The decision was made following Governor Ned Lamont's activation of statewide cold weather protocols.
