WATERBURY, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Congresswoman Jahana Hayes has issued a written statement as she battles for the fifth congressional district against former federal prosecutor republican David X. Sullivan.
Hayes writes that her "campaign continues to monitor the vote count in precincts across the district and our internal numbers look very encouraging."
The race between Hayes and Sullivan remained tight for much of the night.
"At this time however, I am going to wait for all votes to be tallied before making any additional comments on the election," adds Hayes.
