PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Plainfield Police say a homeless town man became uncooperative with officers during his early morning arrest Sunday.
Around 3:22 a.m. Sunday, Police responded to a complaint of a man and woman arguing at the Sam's Food Store on Norwich Road.
A responding officer immediately recognized Zachery Mitchell, 27, homeless of Plainfield, from extensive police interactions in the past. Mitchell had an active arrest warrant for Failure to Appear in the second degree.
Police say Mitchell was uncooperative as officers placed him under arrest.
An investigation was conducted on scene with the woman who alleged Mitchell was physically abusive towards her. Stolen property and a bag containing narcotics was located on scene and the incident remains under investigation.
Although he remained uncooperative and refused to exit the police cruiser, Mitchell was escorted into the booking room and was placed in a cell.
While being held Mitchell became emotional, police say, and flooded the cell with toilet water, causing the cell to overflow, and to leak into the Plainfield Police Department evidence processing room.
Mitchell stripped down and urinated throughout the cell and attempted to tamper with the cell cameras and locks, according to the police report.
Police add that, while in custody, Mitchell referred to Officers as “Pigs” and stated he would meet the arresting Officer “On the streets”.
Mitchell was charged with Failure to Appear 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and is currently being held at the Plainfield Police Department, pending arraignment at Danielson Superior Court on Monday, August 30, 2021.
