Groton, Conn./WTIC Radio - Groton city police are investigating human remains found Wednesday.
Police responded to a location adjacent Colonel Ledyard Cemetery on Mitchell Street.
The caller reported a suspicious item, said police.
It was while searching the area that police found the human remains.
It's not yet known whether the remains are those of a male or female.
Groton city police are being assisted in the investigation by the New London State's Attorney, state police and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
