Bristol, Conn./WTIC Radio - The Connecticut Office of Inspector General has released preliminary details about a fatal shooting involving Bristol police last Friday night.
Officers were called to the home of Jakub Dziemaszkiewicz, 43, on Woodbridge Road just after 8:30 p.m.
Police were alerted by an acquaintance of Dziemaszkiewicz that he was in possession of several firearms and that “he would not go down without a fight.”
The OIG said Officer Mark McGrane and three other police officers approached the home and found Dziemaszkiewicz armed with a rifle.
He was told multiple times to drop the weapon, says the report.
McGrane fired, hitting Dziemaszkiewicz three times.
The rifle and a Glock were found near his body.
The medical examiner says Diemaszkiewicz died from gunshot wounds to the head, neck and torso.
