Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The state inspector general's office has released additional details about an officer involved shooting last week in Hartford.
The shooting was preceded by a homicide in Middletown.
Last Tuesday, police in that city put out an alert that they were on the lookout for 43-year-old Barrington Brown.
West Hartford police received a hit in Brown's vehicle license plate near New Park Street and Oakwood Avenue.
Stop sticks were deployed during the pursuit, although Brown kept driving, crossing into Hartford.
The preliminary report says Brown opened the door to his vehicle on Flatbush Avenue and fired on an officer, who returned fire through his windshield.
The report states Brown later ordered two individuals out of their car.
A 17-year-old victim in that vehicle was shot.
Brown was later apprehended and treated at an area hospital for a non life-threatening gunshot wound.
No officers were injured.
In a statement, West Hartford Police Chief Vernon Riddick said "West Hartford officers, confronted with an immediate and dangerous threat, put their lives at risk while taking action to affect the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection with a domestic violence homicide."
Riddick says the department is cooperating with the inspector general's investigation.
