HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Connecticut Health Officials are 'strongly' recommending indoor mask wearing statewide for all residents over the age of two, regardless of vaccination status.
This recommendation also applies in Litchfield County, where there is moderate COVID transmission.
Middlesex County, on Sunday, joined the other six counties in meeting the CDC's substantial COVID transmission requirements. "Substantial transmission" is defined as 50 cases per 100,000 residents.
Officials believe Litchfield County will likely meet the "substantial" threshold soon.
On Sunday, the CT DPH says reports of "breakthrough" COVID cases among vaccinated people are "rare" but do happen. Health officials say the vast majority of hospitalizations and deaths in Connecticut, and around the country, are among unvaccinated people.
CT DPH strongly recommends that unvaccinated residents get vaccinated as soon as possible to help stop the ongoing spread of the delta COVID variant.
