New Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - An early Thursday morning assault has New Haven police investigating.
Officers say just after 6:00 a.m., a 38-year-old female jogger was attacked in the area of Yale and Edgewood Avenues.
They say the suspect struck the victim in the face and attmpted to drag her into a nearby wooded area.
She was able to fight off the suspect and return home.
The suspect fled into Edgewood Park, police say.
The victim was treated for minor injuries.
Investigators with the Special Victims Unit combed the area for clues, speaking to witnesses and obtaining video surveillance footage.
There's no word yet on a motive for the attack.
Police urge residents to be cognizant of their surroundings and call police if they have any information.
