NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Newington Police arrest a suspect in connection with a Monday afternoon armed robbery.
Police say a victim went to a residence on Robbins Avenue to buy a knife from people who are known to him.
The victim provided Walmart gift cards as a form of payment.
At that time, two juveniles and an adult allegedly brandished an axe and hammer to get the victim to pay in cash, reportedly swinging an axe at the victim at one point.
One juvenile was arrested after a chase on foot.
The juvenile began to resist officers resulting in injury to an officer requiring medical attention. The officer has since been released from the hospital after receiving treatment.
The juvenile is facing charges of first degree robbery, reckless endangerment, threatening, assault on a police officer, interfering, and larceny.
Newington Officers have identified two additional suspects and arrest warrants are pending.
