HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont reaches a deal with the SEIU 1199 NE to postpone a nursing home and group home strike.

The workers were set to go on strike starting on May 19th, as they seek a pathway to $25 per hour and better healthcare and retirement plans.

The Governor's Office says the SEIU 1199 NE is now agreeing to delay the strike until at least May 27th.

We're learning Governor Lamont met with SEIU 1199 NE leaders to discuss their demands this past week. During the meeting, he seemed to agree they could be paid more.

The delay comes as the State continues to negotiate its next two-year state budget before the legislative session ends on June 4.
