Logan concedes in Fifth District

New Britain, Conn. (WTIC Radio)-Republican George Logan has conceded the Fifth District Congressional race, saying his legal team lacks enough evidence to overturn Tuesday's election outcome.

"The time has come for this campaign to end and for all of us to work together for a brighter future."

Tabulating the final results were influenced by glitches in the town of Salisbury, apparently due to redistricting.

Logan, a former state senator, said he called Congresswoman Jahana Hayes this morning and congratulated her on the victory in the hard-fought campaign.

Logan said the campaign overcame challenges. " We gave voters something to believe in. We inspired people. Almost fifty percent of you voted for me to bring change here and in Washington. For that I'm extremely grateful."

"Throughout the last year and a half I've heard too many people struggling and frustrated. That the politicians in charge were ignoring their cries for help. Help to make life more affordable, groceries, heating oil, gas, rent.
Help to make our communities safer. Help to make our schools work better for students, parents and teachers. Help to grow a stronger economy, rooted on our main streets and not on Capitol Hill in Washington."

Logan said he'll not stop advocating for the district, adding a lot of work remains.

After his statement, Logan left without answering questions.
