Putnam, Conn./WTIC Radio - In Putnam, a man is facing charges after a town employee was alerted to "alarming posts" on social media.

Police say they received the complaint around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

The posts indicated that Brian Sergel, 41, allegedly threatened to commit acts of violence with a firearm at the town's municipal complex.

Police took Sergel into custody several hours later without incident.

He faces charges of threatening and breach of peace.

Sergel was held on a $25,000 bond pending a court hearing today.
