
Berlin, Conn./WTIC Radio - A man is under arrest after state police say he rearended a state Department of Transporation Vehicle working on a highway project Thursday night.
Troopers say Brian Ayers, 46, was traveling in the right lane on Route 9 north near exit 34.
The investigation found that Ayers went from the right lane and veered left where the pattern was set up, striking the vehicle.
They say Ayers untimately failed a field sobriety test, was arrested and charged with a host of violations including endangering highway workers, operating under the influence, reckless endangerment and failure to maintain a proper lane.
He's free on $5,000 bond.
Troopers say a DOT supervisor reported minor pain and was checked out at the scene, but refused medical transport.
