New Haven Police

New Haven Police arrest a man who is accused of intentionally driving a vehicle into a crowd on College Street early last Sunday morning.

The melee reportedly unfolded around 1:26 a.m. during an argument at the Rumaj nightclub on Crown Street.

Police say John Hay, 22, of West Haven, was the initial aggressor and threw the first punch in that fight with Brayden Chance, 19, of South Glastonbury.

Chance is accused of arriving about 20 minutes later to a parking garage on College Street, where he allegedly drove into a 20-year-old Milford woman, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Video from bystanders also shows Chance driving into a vehicle parked on the street, a wall for the garage, before backing up and again attempting to hit pedestrians on the sidewalk.

Hay is charged with disorderly conduct.

Chance, who wasn't found initially after the incident, turned himself in on Thursday, April 23, 2026, to face charges of first-degree criminal attempt to commit assault, two counts of second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving, evading responsibility, and third-degree criminal mischief.

Chance's bond is $350,000.
