Fairfield, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police say a person died in the waters of Long Island Sound in Fairfield on Saturday.
A little after noon, dispatchers received a call that two people were struggling in the water off Lighthouse Point and Penfield Reef.
Fairfield police and fire, along with first responders from Westport, Trumbull and the U.S. Coast Guard assisted.
Several bystanders were able to pull one person from the water.
The Coast Guard helped locate the second victim and that person was recovered by Fairfield Police shortly after 3:00 p.m.
The second victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Identities of those involved are being withheld pending family notification.
