Seymour, Conn./WTIC Radio - A man is dead after Seymour police say he was struck by falling rocks while working at a quarry Monday morning.

Officers received the call to the Haynes Quarry on 600 Derby Avenue just after 1030 a.m.

The victim, a 41 year old man from Wallingford, was not responsive and had severe injuries when police and medics arrived on scene.

Investigators say he was operating heavy machinery at the quarry's base when the rocks fell from a cliff and struck the victim.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition to Seymour police, Connecticut State Police and OSHA are investigating.
