Waterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in Waterbury are investigating after a man was struck by a car while riding a moped Tuesday evening.
It was just before 7:00 p.m. when officers say they were called to the 1000 block of Meriden Road.
A preliminary investigation showed that the driver of a pickup truck was attempting to turn into a private driveway when the accident occurred and the 18-year-old old moped rider was struck.
He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious internal injuries and is in critical condition.
The pickup driver was not injured.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Waterbury police.
