MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Manchester Police charge an East Hartford man in connection with a stabbing that left a woman injured Friday afternoon.

Police say Leonel Colon-Ortiz, 38, of East Hartford, allegedly stabbed a woman in the area of 199 Spencer Street around 3 p.m. Friday.

When officers arrived at the scene on the report of the stabbing in the Popeyes parking lot, a woman got out of the passenger side of a parked car with stab wounds to the right side of her abdomen.

Colon-Ortiz took off on foot. He was later found in a wooded area near Pascal Lane.

Police have charged Colon-Ortiz with attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree threatening, third-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of second-degree breach of peace, two counts of first degree reckless endangerment, and interfering with an officer.

Colon-Ortiz is currently being held on a $1 million bond and will appear in court on Monday, September 19, 2022.
