SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Southington Police arrest a Meriden man in connection with a man found fatally shot in a wrecked car Thursday morning.
Police have charged Victor Perez, 43, of Meriden, with murder in the death of Jose Principe, 28, of Waterbury.
Principe was found early Thursday morning with a gunshot to his back in a car that was slammed against a utility pole outside Noodles and Company on Queen Street.
The Office of the Medical Examiner determined it was the gunshot to the back/torso that killed Principe.
Not too far away from the scene, police found Perez illegally armed with a gun. He was described as uncooperative with investigators, police say.
Perez, who has a criminal background, was first charged with illegal possession of a firearm and interference with police.
The court has set Perez's bond at $10-million.
Perez is currently being held by the Department of Correctional on a $1-million bond for an unrelated charge.
