MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Middletown Police say a 4-year-old boy is safe after he was abducted more than 24-hours ago.

Police say Armel Muhammad, 4, of Middletown, was staying with his uncle, Mario Jenkins, in New Britain on Monday.

When Jenkins left for work, he left the child with Stephanie Fonda, 39, who police describe as a family friend.

Fonda is accused of taking Jenkins' car and bringing Muhammad with her without his permission. She was last seen driving a blue 2010 Chevy Malubu. Police believe her husband David Fonda, 39, was also in the car.

Muhammad was found safe on Monday evening at the 5th Avenue Motel on the Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield.

Both David and Stephanie Fond are in police custody. New Britain Police are expected to charge the two.
