Mother, aunt charged in New London teen's assault

New London, Conn./WTIC Radio - Police in New London have charged the mother and aunt, as well as ten others, in the assault last month of a 13-year-old girl.

Investigators says the incident occurred on April 29 in a lot on Colman Street.

Police became aware of a video circulating that showed the victim being assaulted by a family member and the boyfriend of the victim.

In the video, police say the victim's aunt, Keosha Muriel, 29, and the boyfriend are allegedly shown along with others taking part in the assault.

The victim's mother, Idinah Muriel, 32, was on scene and is alleged to have planned the assault.

The two adults are facing charges including cruelty to persons, risk of injury, and assault, among others.

A 15-year-old and 12-year-old juvenile are facing cruelty and other charges.

Eight other juveniles are charged with conspiracy.
