Governor Lamont has signed the State's so-called "Glock Bill" into law, along with other measures, on Tuesday.

The bill outlaws the future sale, importation, and manufacturing of convertible Glock pistols.

In pushing for the bill, Governor Lamont had cited data from the Hartford Police Department that between 2023 and 2024, their officers seized 51 of these Glock switches in their city alone.

Majority Democrats, who backed and passed HB 5043, argue the measure will prevent guns from reaching the wrong hands.

John Commerford, Executive Director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action, released a statement condemning the new law on Wednesday, “Connecticut’s ridiculous Glock-style pistol ban is nothing less than a direct attack on the most commonly owned, lawfully carried handguns in America. Throughout the country, progressive politicians are launching a coordinated national assault on our Second Amendment rights. They aren’t targeting criminals; they’re criminalizing law-abiding citizens by banning the very firearms millions of Americans depend on every day for self-defense."
