
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The City of New Haven is announcing its summer events schedule with offerings that range from sailing to the New Haven Harbor to pizza tours.
“Visitors and tourists are learning what New Haven residents have known for a long time: there is so much to do, see, and experience in New Haven!” stated Mayor Elicker in a written statement.
Signature New Haven events feature the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, a unique, interactive, and thought-provoking series of events, installations, talks, and group experiences that encompass art, history, food, culture, and music. The festival’s mission is to establish an internationally renowned festival in New Haven of the highest quality, featuring world-class artists, thinkers, and leaders, while attracting and engaging a broad and diverse audience, celebrating community, and promoting economic development. This year’s festival includes numerous Juneteenth events, films, a circus, walking tours to explore New Haven’s neighborhoods and history, and food activities, including one with Jacques Pépin. The Black Wall Street Festival, created by Grammy award winners The Breed Ent., focuses on supporting black and brown entrepreneurs and creatives. It aims to combat systemic racism and enhance economic growth within these communities in New Haven. The event celebrates their contributions to the city's prosperity and encourages community engagement, education, and activism on racial and economic justice. The 2025 Puerto Rican Festival of New Haven will be held on Saturday, August 9th, at the New Haven Green. The event, organized by PRU - Puerto Rican Festival of New Haven, will feature food trucks, family activities, arts and crafts, and live music. The 10th Annual A-1 Toyota Apizza Feast, Connecticut’s biggest pizza festival, is held in conjunction with the New Haven Grand Prix. This family-friendly street fair features over 50 food vendors, including iconic New Haven pizzerias like Frank Pepe’s and Sally’s Apizza, craft beer gardens, live music, art installations, and pizza-themed contests. This year, organizers aim to break the Guinness World Record for the largest pizza party, expecting up to 20,000 attendees. The event will be held on September 12 at the New Haven Green. Launched in 2023, CITA Park is a seasonal beer garden that is built on collaboration, diversity & good vibes. Located on the corner of Chapel and Orange Streets, CITA Park was established to diversify the beverage industry and the spaces that occupy it through celebrating the richness of Black and Brown culture. Family Business: (A)Pizza Play is A Broken Umbrella Theatre’s 15th original production inspired by the culture and history of New Haven. The play focuses on Lucrezia, Francesca, Janice, and Faith as they grapple with family, tradition, and legacy while the family pizza shop changes hands in 1929, 1949, 1989, and 2010.
