New London, Conn. (WTIC Radio)-New London County residents can receive free dental screenings today and free dental work tomorrow, according to the Mission of Mercy, sponsoring the event.
This is the fourteenth such clinic. Covid cancelled the one last year.
Medical screenings, dental screenings and x-rays take place until two this afternoon at Saint Sofia's Church on Hempstead street, said Clinic Director Josephine Bicknell.
Once the screenings are complete the patient will be assigned to a dentist who will perform the treatment tomorrow.
"Your oral health care affects every part of your body, especially your heart. You have so much bacteria floating through your mouth...to keep yourself going you really need dental care, it's imperative, " said Bicknell.
According to Bicknell, Four dental clinics are participating, with a total of ten dentists offering their services free of charge.
