(New London, Conn. WTIC)-With a tropical storm warning in effect for southeastern Connecticut, the city of New London is preparing for potential wild weather.
Mayor Michael Passero says steps for storm preparation are being taken. He says Public Works and the Storm Water Authority are making sure catch basins are cleared, so any flooding will drain quickly. He also says generators are fueled up and if the situation worsens, the Emergency Operations Center will open. Passero says he doesn't expect this to be a long-term event. In case it does, he says the schools are equipped with generators to act as cooling centers.
Passero also says Eversource keeps the city posted and updated during storms like this.
