
North Haven, Conn./WTIC Radio - North Haven police say they have been investigating a recent rash of vehicle burglaries in town.
They say most have been of the smash and grab variety, with the crooks looking for items of value after breaking the windows of locked vehicles.
Investigators say most of the crimes have occurred in commercial lots as well as in residential neighborhoods.
North Haven police officials say they'll be increasing staffing on the overnight shifts with the assistance of grant funding the town has secured.
The crimes have taken place on over a dozen streets, police said, including Maple Avenue, George Street, Blakeslee Avenue, Washington Avenue, and State Street.

The drivers of several stolen vehicles in the last week were able to allude police who attempted to stop them.
